Mobile Detailing in an Apartment or High-Rise Garage in Austin

How mobile detailing works in apartment, condo and office garages in Austin: what the building needs to allow, how a rinseless wash works, and what to tell your detailer.

Yes, you can get a car properly detailed in an apartment, condo or office garage in Austin. Around the Domain and downtown, the car usually never has to leave its parking spot. It takes a little planning around the building, and a different wash method when the garage doesn't allow water on the floor.

What the building needs to allow

Every garage is different, but it comes down to three things:

  • Access. A guest pass, a gate code, a call box or someone to let the detailer in. Height limits matter too, so mention a low-clearance garage.
  • Room to work. A spot where the doors can open fully and there are a few feet around the car. End spots and spots next to a wall are easiest.
  • Water rules. Some garages are fine with a contained wash. Many don't allow any runoff. That's where a rinseless wash comes in.

If you're not sure, ask your property manager whether vendors can work on cars in the garage and whether there are any rules about water. A heads-up to the front desk usually solves the rest.

How a rinseless wash works

A rinseless wash replaces the hose with a polymer solution in a bucket. The solution surrounds and lifts the dirt, and each panel is wiped with a soaked plush towel, then dried with a clean one. Towels are turned and swapped constantly so dirt never gets dragged across the paint. Nothing hits the floor.

Done carefully, it's safe for paint and leaves a clean, slick finish. It's the right tool for the light to moderate dirt a garage-parked car picks up. A truck covered in mud from a ranch road is a different job and needs a full wash somewhere with drainage.

What can be done in a garage

Service In a garage spot? Notes
Interior detail Yes Vacuum, steam, stain treatment and leather care all work anywhere there's power, and we bring our own
Exterior wash Yes Rinseless if the building doesn't allow water, a contained wash if it does
Full detail Yes Inside and out, done in the spot
Paint correction Usually Needs room around the car and a few hours in the spot
Ceramic coating Case by case The coating needs a clean, dry place to cure overnight; open garages can be too dusty

What to tell your detailer when you book

  • The building name and address, the garage level and the spot number.
  • How to get in: guest pass, code, call box or front desk.
  • Any rules on water, vendor hours or where service vehicles can park.
  • Where the key will be, if you won't be there. The front desk is often the easiest place to leave it.

With us, the booking has a notes field for all of this, and you can always text it. We confirm access the day before, and you get a text with photos when the car is done.

Do you need to be there?

No. The car can be done while you're at work or upstairs. We need access to the car and a key if the inside is being done. You come down to a clean car.

Where we work in garages

Garages around the Domain and downtown Austin, along with the newer buildings in East Austin and Mueller. Prices are the same as a driveway job, and they're all on our price list.

Questions

Is a rinseless wash as good as a regular wash?

For a car with normal road dust and grime, yes, and it can be gentler because the paint is lubricated the whole time. For heavy mud or caked-on dirt, a full wash with a rinse is better.

Will it leave water in the garage?

A rinseless wash doesn't. Everything stays in the bucket and the towels. If the building allows a contained wash, we keep runoff to the spot and clean up after.

Do you need power or water from the building?

No. We carry both.

What if my building doesn't allow any vendor work?

Then any lot where you have permission works, like your office lot or a friend's driveway. Text us and we'll help figure out a spot.
